shame the DM2 doesn't have 2 spare sliders for pitch control. However, it does have a joystick with 2 degrees of freedom. I'm inteneding to "butcher" my DM2, adding 2 sliders, using the joystick circuits which are redunant for me most of the time.
If Anyone has tried anything like this,, I'd be interested to know.

How did you get on ? id be up for putting some sliders on this thing!! could then map them in DM2Midi as volume or pitch!

hmmm - why do you think so? i really don't like the x-fader and think it would be great to have two more knobs...

My fault! ... can't explain why I wrote x-fader when I meant Joystick ...
SO:

Just a thought . . . Instead of hacking open the DM2, why not modify an old USB Joystick into pitch controls and extra buttons? You could get the output converted to MIDI using MIDIYOKE and/or REJOICE. That way you would have more functionality, and not have to mod the DM2 (and you'd still retain the joystick). It would, of course, take a little work though. This is a little something like I am planning for the future . . . Chris

Well it shouldn't be difficult to do. The joystick is nothing but 2 rather freely moving and spring loaded potentiometers, or knobs if you're not familiar with electronics lingo. The hardest part is that they're mounted directly to the control board so you'll need a solder sucker or solder wick to get all 5 or 6 contacts clean at once to pull them off.

Hmmm, I'm still thinking about modding the dm2 with 2 potentiometers. Has anyone an idea, what kind of potis I'll need? I guess it should be 50K ohm linear potentiometers... am I right? And has anyone any idea how to calibrate the dm2 when modded in that way?

Im waiting till i get my new puhui t862 www.puhuit.com/main/page_products_t862_bga_station.html to give anything like that a try

And has anyone any idea how to calibrate the dm2 when modded in that way? ya i just confirmed today that this can be done and the joystick isnt needed when calibrating the theory would be turn one left and the other right... and that would calibrate it... but its only needed to be done to find the "edge" of the joystick" which you only really need to go from closed to open with the pot.. works great now have 2 twist knobs for fader... also this week im going to take a maudio xponent and a dm2 and mix them together to get everything i want in 1 unit and do a full arcade mod install... ive done so many of these mods that im getting to the point i can put arcade buttons inside in about 2 hours a dm2.

Hi all this is my first post.
I'm thinking to mod my dm2 with 2 linear vertical pot's for volume. Can you tell me if 50K is ok? On the software side is your mod fully working?
tks
