I'm interested to know how you plan on funding this. I know i would be more than willing to drop a few bucks on a driver so i could use my DM2 again, but at the end of the day this is supposed to be an inexpensive controller option so i cant see people paying a great deal for it.
In regards to the conversion box I would like to hear more on that (would you be making and selling them or just posting plans on how to build one).
Good luck on your continuing efforts with this, a lesser man such as myself would have given up on this long ago. I guess thats why i'm not running a forum

your dedication to this project is definitely appreciated. i was using my DM2 last weekend (it was collecting dust and I felt bad about not using it ) TWO PEOPLE came up and went on and on about wanting to get the DM2 to work in 7. may not be the most inspiring testimonial but i know there's a demand for it... thanks for the hard work!

Good luck on your continuing efforts with this, a lesser man such as myself would have given up on this long ago. I guess thats why i'm not running a forum well if its a driver i will most likely make it available for free or maybe even do like 2 versions. A basic driver that allows 1 macro sheet to be programmed maybe a pro that is dm2midi for it. Really hard to say didnt think about charging just for a driver. If it ends up panning out to be a conversion box. What we will do is most likely make plans available and then we will sell the cmos chip already programmed. that cost would vary on how much the chips cost at the time and maybe a few bucks. Couldnt see us selling the chips with the programming for more then 5-10 usd. we have quite a bit working with a box and plan to make a mold on my vacuum molder. but as far as a final project it will consist of simplifying the unit and making it cheap and affordable with as few useless parts as possible. we had some ideas about selling the box and offering some cool stuff on it like having a sound card built in or 2 sound cards. built in the box. We will see how it goes.

i forgot to add our ultimate goal is to make it worth the money and keep it cost effective to help keep it cheap. Thats why we want to offer something more like the sound card/s cause the box we have now we are working on writing the cmos and gaining feature but at the same time it can share 1 usb connection with a usb sound card that we can attach on the device and possible add a 2nd usb out slot so there could be 2 sound cards. that way people can have 2 outputs cue/master and possibly a 3rd with sound fx (vdj). We will have to figure it out in the end cause we dont have plans to get production runs from china. We are just gonna price components and make it. Maybe even make like 10 of them and give them away to key members on the forum that have helped provide feedback new and old. An allow them to post reviews about how good it is and provide us with feed back to improve it.
Which gives me the idea now to remember to make it so it can be flashed from usb.

i cant believe with so many people wanting it to work in win7 it hasnt been done yet by like 1000 people thats cause almost everyone in this world is super lazy. An to do something extra would make the world collapse inside them. So it takes a very select few to be innovative and creative and do these things and create new technologies. so the lazy people of the world can wait for the next thing to be handed to them for a small fee. horrible to say but so true. of course to everyone who is that they will all be in denial

I really appreciate your work on this - I've been scanning the past forum threads and now this one - just recently found this forum, it wasn't around last time I was looking for a Vista solution. There's just so much else that I am running in Win7 that goes along with the DM2 - wish there was a good way to do it. At the very least I'm thinking a gobetween machine running xp but that only helps me use my own samples - using it as a midi device doesn't help if the computer I'm running it on doesn't have the cahones to drive the programs receiving the midi input. I'll be following closely to see what you come up with, I also would not mind putting some money towards a driver - if we have enough people, it will boil down to dollars each. How many people still have them around?

well we got some good information back. we have an ok and temporary driver signature provided by a open source project to help us out. So we are able to build a driver now that wont need to be in test mode. We have high hopes and are jumping in head first as we speak. theres gonna be about 10 of us clacking keys for the next few days and we will see what we can get done. and as far as the midi box goes we have had alot of progress. using some things we have found on audruino and have high hopes now that we have moved to a larger chip that can hold more programming THanks - B2

any progress? I'd be willing to pay for this driver, I just want to get my favourite old controller working and it'd be a hell of a lot cheaper then upgrading to new midi decks

ITs just booting a 2nd os in a o/s all about simplification

its hit or miss if you have the right version of virtual pc it works and you have to have everything setup. an dxdiag or it doesnt exist lol.
