Well given my choice between butchering the DM2 and rolling back 2 versions of Windows to something that's not incredibly stable now that I have 7 installed, I'm toying with the idea of ripping out the control board and replacing it with a stock MIDI or joypad controller.
Cracked it open to have a look today. Looks like the only controlls mounted right to it are that button in between the two tables and they joystick. My biggest dillema is finding a way to use the scratch wheels, which use optical encoders. I'm not sure if I can just send that data right along or if I have to introduce my own microprocessor to deal with it.
Also I want to try to use the lights yet if I can find a useful function. I'm mainly looking to use this with Traktor. I start to wonder if I wouldn't be better off just building something from scratch, but hey I got 29 buttons, 2 jog wheels, and 3 axes right here already.

I think the best option would be to wire in an arduino, or rather, something smaller but similar. like a teensy. write up some code to translate the input to something usable. I think I may look into that as an option at some point soon. I have a DM2 laying around gathering dust, and I'd love to maybe put it to other uses.

Hi guys, I have a dm2 on my work table opened up and I ordered a 40 pin Tweeny 2.0 I think which is open source and runs arduio software. So the factory installed ic is 40 pins, so would pulling out he original and replacing it with a Tweeny 2.0 work after setting it up like the original ic by the Cyprus data sheet? I'm just getting started with arduino so any code I could copy and paste would rock

If i can find all of the stuff we had written up designs and software ill send it. Only reason we didnt do it is cause well A most people dont have the ability to do what was necessary to do the build and B it wouldve been costly to sell them to people. But yes i cant see why it wouldnt
