I'm using vdj 5 rev 6 and now that I'm getting a little better i want to expand my abilities. I want to mix songs that are in different keys but I can't identify which key they're in. Does anyone know a program (pref. free) that can identify which key my songs are in? I know vdj 6 tells you but I've been reading the vdj forums and am under the assumption that vdj 6 doesn't connect to the dm2. Thanks.

The best choice for that task would be "Rapid Evolution" - it's free and very accurate in detecting keys. With it you can write the identified keys into your mp3s tag, so Virtual DJ could read 'em... And what is that second thing about "VDJ doesn't connect to the dm2" It does - it does - it does

I was reading their boards and they were saying that vdj 6 doesn't support the dm2, it could be wrong tho.

Thanks man, that was the only thing keeping me from upgrading. I'll look into getting a newer version now.

Well since we're on the topic, will I have to make a new controller map or can I import my existing xml file? Reassigning all of my controls seems like it would be more than a hassle.

You will have to make a Controller Definition and a Mapping Definition... It's a little bit time-consuming, but believe me - it's worth it! The new VDJScript totally rocks! By the Way, I'm just planning a Configuration for the solo use of DM2 (internal Crossfader setup)... So if you got any suggestions, please state 'em at dm2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=virtualdj&action=display&thread=346 or even just post your XML for VDJ5 And back to O-topic, did you try Rapid Evolution software?

I liked it. It's a bit of a resource hog but it does what it's supposed to. You get what you pay for.

In regards to DM2;vDJ compatibility- heres a little FYI. Ive got my DM2 fully functioning with vDj 7.0 PRO. except when using 4 decks, the controller only seems to be able to manage decks 3 and 4. Any ideas why, or if and how its fixable?
