Ok I'm pulling my hair out (and there's not alot to pull ;D )
I've read all the guides, all the posts, and I'm stumped.
My problem: something about the dm2 is causing VDJ to be unstable. Stuff slows down, songs stutter, and in general the crossfader and the wheels do strange things sometimes. I also get alot of pops and audio degradation.
For example..I have a song on deck A, and mix in one from deck B. Lets say I fade back to deck A, and try and rewind deck B. Deck A rewinds. I have tried a million different combos to avoid this, including hitting the center bar. I noticed that if Deck A is playing and I rewind Deck B, the focus is moved to Deck B although it's Deck A that gets rewound. NOTE: this only happens in one direction, rewinding Deck A never interferes with Deck B playback *yet*
Also, when using the wheel and/or crossfading, sometimes a loop out point will be activated. And the crossfader sometimes forgets where it is and both songs come on, even tho the fader is far right or far left. Wiggling it a bit makes it remember I guess. Sometimes it even starts playing the other deck by itself (or mixing it in)
I'm not sure that even remapping this stuff is going to help, the
stutters and poor sound quality don't have much to do with midi code I don't think.
I know this won't be welcomed I guess but I really prefer Traktor for stability but for the life of me can't find any tks files that operate anything beyond the crossfader, for either Traktor 2 or 3 (both of which I own). The sound quality in Traktor is always top notch and it never hiccups. Really, I wish I could get the dm2 talking to it properly.
Having said all that, I would LOVE to leave Traktor behind for a bit and use VDJ, but I just cant get the sound quality or the dm2 to stop misbehaving.
Maybe there's some parameters I need to fine tune? I will try my hardest not to just ask for a file or anything, I'll struggle thru this but also wouldnt mind a file anyone has already been successful with..have tried all the ones posted here already..
thanks if you can help!
**my setup*
-O/S Windows XP SP3
-Virtual DJ 6.2
-midiyoke installed
-DM2MIDI installed and updated with the proper dm2 file for VDJ
-proper keyboard and dm2 xmls in the Mappers directory and definitions file in the Devices directory
- tried the VDJ skins and also Mischerman's Friend
**ALSO!**
I don't have any use for looping or key/pitch shifting (at least, from the DM2, I do it so infrequently that I can use the keyboard when I need it) but I DO have a wish, that I could assign the buttons on the top of the decks to trigger the 12 samples that are found in the VDJ sampler window. Any clue how I could rig it to do that?
