so basically everyone has windows 7 or vista and wants this thing to work but doesnt want to either dual boot or properly set up a virtual machine.
So we have brainstormed and come up with 2 working solutions. Both are the same just a different format.
first is a cd bootable version of windows xp which comes from bart pe. downside to this is you need to have your own serial key for windows xp and would have to follow a guide to make your own bart pe windows xp environment
2nd. Is an ubuntu linux build. I was able to successfully port through wine all versions of virtual dj 4-6 and the linux driver. Now the downside to this is you will have to port your own copy of virtual dj or we may be able to make a cd version that will have version 4-6 installed and all you will have to do is type in your own serial key.
new 3rd option a usb bootable thumb drive install of xp there are hundreds of resources for this
now with both of these options you can play the music off the hard drive with the previous install of windows 7 or windows vista. i have to leave after the 3-10-10 till almost 4-25-10 so i will be gone for a while but will try to get on when i can to help every one out. So for everyone who wants to know the easiest most viable option without voiding there windows 7 or destorying there vista install. this is the way to go.
also if you have a slow machine ubuntu and wine (just wine install of vdj really) might not be the way to go for that id recommend using mixxx software. its kinda nutsty doesnt have all the options and hell they ripped off the dm2 community so use it as much as you want. But wine makes vdj run 100% on cpu power so it may run slower on older machines where you may want to just use another version.
So what i will do is make an ubuntu install ported drivers and mix *minus drivers of your computer cause each machine is different.
and then people with windows 7 and vista can try using an ubuntu build with mixxx to see if they like it. This is just a method to be able to use the dm2 till we build a better driver.
*updated for windows 7 users*
all your drivers for windows 7 can be ported to ubuntu. i use a italian driver backup program its like ita3drv is the filename when i get home i will post it on the forum as an attachment.
wrote this in a hurry so i hope its readable,
