Hi to all, I'm SeeseOnE and I just came up on an old dm2 3 days ago and have gotten it to work with VDJ so far. I've fumbled with Mixxx a bit now, but still not even close to figuring out how to assign things thus far. I'm a house (any type as long as it's good) dj, but grew up on hip-hop & underground rap (west coast) so everything I dig is usually bass heavy and funky. Trying to save up for my third and last dj setup, but for the meantime I'll tinker with this to feel like I'm not completely dormant. Sold Technics and my Rane last year out of necessity and will try to transition towards pioneer cdj's eventually. Got my 1st Technic now, will get 2nd eventually. Archive my vinyl collection and purchase cdj 400 first since it doubles as a midi controller as well. eventually I'll get the PROPER cdj and swap out the 400 when I can afford it. I don't like vinyl control records and the whole shebang just because I like mixing vinyl if I feel like it, and I like being familiar with the what's in most clubs (cdj's) as well, so I'll have my cake and will eventually eat it too. As for the dm2. if I can figure out how to configure the Pioneer PC dj'ing software with the dm2 and my midi keyboard (e-mu) and a third party midi mapping utility, I would be as near to natural as possible IMO since that programs jog wheels, effects, layout, and familiarity (duh, it's pretty much like all the pioneer hardware) but it's engine, and beat locking is superb to all. I've tried vdj dj traktor ableton live both on mac and pc and feel like the pioneer software is sh**ing on all of them. I first played with a dm2 on my mac years ago, but now on a pc finally am freaking it (just a bit). Thanks to DJ Ah Yea! and his dm2 vdj template he shared I've gotten a taste of the possibilities. I'm so used to programing midi controls with right click and hitting a key like in Reason that this whole endeavor feels like a trip to wally world, and I'm clark w... but, you gotta have a hobby right???
