I cut this from another post i was in a rant writeup about.
modified maybe thats not true (<---in the context of im here but cant help post)... Ill have to ask what i can and cant do with a mixman, driver and this forum... But i wonder if the concept of a universal midi translater is still viable and if they would be supressing my creativity and freedom by not allowing me to make something that technically has nothing to do with a mixmans driver source code or its end use.. If by coincidence one thing you can plug in that box is a dm2. Then so be it.
Oh god that would be like building a minicomputer.. An near impossible the price tag would be astronomical AT least 178$ (extreme Arduino build) if i factor in what i just built in front of me. An even then the lag is horrible. Like a 15 second processing delay... Wonder if i can hub a smart phone with dual 600mhz processor and see if i can do it faster... ANDROID HERE I f**kING COME! Doubtful... How come im the only person posting on this forum that can pull crap out of thin air no matter how far fetched? Now the question anyone know any smartphones that can be hubbed? needs processing power tho.
Wait while writing this GENIUS brainstorm! Android (linux based) = linux = linux we have a driver = linux signal to universal driver = bohmes midi translator and were back! An it has nothing to do with mixman or a driver! only using previously created technology in a format that anyone can arrange. Not subject to infringement. wallah i think i may have pissed off ranted us to a solution that doesnt get me infringement! Why did we have to use there source code WHY!!!!
I THINK IM BACK!

Im also going to look into usb in via dm2 i figured out how to supplement the power source and run a direct line from the power charger to the power wire on the usb port. So i solved powering the dm2 from a cell phone plugged into a charger. Not only that im looking at midi over bluetooth. So same concept linux driver sourced to android midi over bluetooth, bluetooth input on the pc. something like this nettoyeur.noisepages.com/2011/01/midi-over-bluetooth-part-i-hardware/ Minus were going str8 to the phone. my biggest concern here is still the latency. I got a buddy whos coming over and were gonna record some video or something if we can get this arduino to get better then 15 second latency and crashing. But same goes for the phone. How much latency will we get in the process of dm2 to phone. phone process signal to midi. midi signal transferred via bluetooth midi signaled received via bluetooth then input into end program to process the action into sound. as arduino is kinda like hardwired driver its no processor just flash roms saying yes or no. An that works if you are a genius and have the stuff laying around to try a million in one combinations. An way i figured if we cant get scratch rings the arduino concept isnt worth pursueing. But this smart phone thing. It gave me a jump start.. an to note the CO is im not allowed to develop a driver for mixman on WINDOWS. Im not allowed to provide support for the existing drivers on WINDOWS. Or provide links to download existing WINDOWS drivers. (GOD I LOVE THAT IGNORANT MAN AND HIS ILL KNOWLEDGE OF LINUX) so im technically beating around those lines... Im stating here and now in no way is this a driver for windows. this is using the existing linux driver source code to port to a alternate linux kernal which inturn will be known as an APPLICATION. Which intern will act as a UNIVERSAL signal translator which will be processed through midi translation programs and sent via bluetooth. Thus making the hardware no longer a mixman dm2 and a personal piece of equipment which use is as the sole discretion of its end user in conjunction with aforementioned application and is in no way intended to be a direct driver installable on a windows operating system for mixman dm2 in conjuction with the mixman software. you know one thing i never ever tried read this
"Spacetoys, UK distributor for Mixman products, also sent us the P-Mix controller(dm2 in uk i believe), designed and built for use with the software. It plugs into either the USB slot or the PS/2 keyboard connector and has a dedicated button for almost every function in Mixman."
anyone catch that ps/2 connector. So we can use one of these adapters and turn it into ps/2 midi which doesnt require a driver in the same sense. Now i know the P-mix wasnt ever mass produced and instead they sold em as dm2's in UK There are very few ps/2 models i have one but its unbranded not dm2 or p-mix. But i wonder if this adapter will work first to xp then to others. So many routes we never tried before...

so the trouble is breaking down to a phone that has a master host usb connection not a slave but OTG. So far only one i can confirm is a samsung galaxy II now to figure out how to root it so it can host a device.
basically i bought a bunch of phones and only one capable is the galaxy II
modified
but i seem to be able to find a ton of tablets that have OTG capabilities. Sept most of them cant be rooted or have locked ROMs only being able to update through manufacturer and not android o/s builder / root tool kit.

already a brick but i learned a good step of what not to do.... Whoops uploaded wrong kernel. Thats why you use folders for every file... the harder it is to access the less chance you have to F up. I just mastered windows DDK for nada now to learn android... Why cant it just be truly a linux and not something just stealing linux source. <---- musta been how mixman felt.

so apparently the biggest thing with OTG is not can we do it. Its how much they are allowing to be done to the kernel. Ive just spent about 6 hours witha lead developer on android and he tells me with a few more updates and more advances in OTG capabilities we will be able to add .source directly to our android kernel. The only downside is this scares cell phone companies they are afraid people will get free minutes... OH NO!!!... So then like on cheap tablets they can always on end use lock out all those features. But its good to know he gave me great insight alot of help with my galaxy II build. Even if thats only one i can do it on it will work for me...
