Windows 7 64 bit used the windows VPC and it would not allow me to install the specific DM2 driver. the VPC would crash and restart right at the moment of installation. I wish you would release the unsigned version of the driver like you said you had developed in this post. dm2.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=win7&thread=396&post=1757^^ there you say you have a working version but you must disable verification signing on boot. I have been doing this for the past year for a Playstation 3 driver that just recently got authentication from microsoft(so I dont need to disable). I would have no problem with disabling driver signing on boot for your driver as i have a decent enough rig to still run all my high end games w/ no problems with the driver enforcement off so the cut in resources you say wuold happen wouldnt be an issue... in other words PPPPLLLEEEEEEEZZZE you have me me wanting to get back into programming and figure out how to create my own driver for this d**n thing

I've tried it, it ALMOST works for me, i manage to install it fine then calibrate it but the programs it came with dont work not even with 'xp updates' windows7 32bit could not get it to work. as soon as i plug in the dm2 hardware, theres a bsod and computer restarts and wont run windows unless dm2 usb is unplugged quick question to both of you. Are your installs oem or retail. Did it come preloaded or did you buy a disk. Cause i have zero use on OEM till a week ago and ran into the same thing. i guess tomorrow ima go buy a emachine/hp or something to mess with to see the difference.

djpro, great post. I dig your style and good words for the people. I'm not a pro dj or as dedicated to the craft as you are, however I do truly enjoy to mix and make music. I am cursed with windows 7 64 bit. You have mentioned there are ways around anything to make dm2 work. The thing is, i really dont have much money these days and cant afford a win7 upgrade for the winxp in win 7 program or another laptop to run these other methods that you describe. I am willing to tweek a little bit to get it to work and dont care about other programs like itunes and so forth.
Is there anything to be done for the more casual poor DJ like myself?

You can really use a cd rom bootable version of linux (like a built knoppix kernal or a straight ubuntu build). and the dm2 driver is the same for every version of linux for the last 10 years. only difference is you dont use dm2midi. now mind you depending on the build it will need a temporary folder. This is a free alternative to windows. And it will offer almost all the same features. and when your done you can exit linux to windows. Most people seem intimidated by linux. But it really isnt bad and you will still get the full function out of your laptop. Actually in linux i think your computer has more resources and i have less problems when djing. such as latency and such. If you send me a message on aim id be glad to help you or anyone setup a linux build thats right for your computer and get you djing. heres a article on how to install linux and have windows 7 run together. lifehacker.com/#!5403100/dual+boot-windows-7-and-ubuntu-in-perfect-harmony

i know it might seem a little hard or crazy. but its really not that bad. and half of the process if you actually wanted to install it to the pc. is the same steps you would do to dual boot any computer. ive done this 100s of times and have only encountered a problem once. An i dont know if i would contribute it to a failing hard drive or the software. Id have to say it was prolly the hard drive since the person said it would crash if he tried to copy data

Well, iv went ahead and looked into this virtual pc setup that every one has been talking about but when I had got to the point ware it was necessary to download virtual windows XP mode for my windows 7 it required that i first purchase this windows extras upgrade package thing. I do not have the money to buy it though is the only problem to just test some stuff out with it.

But we have a drive thats getting smashed right now and its looking good actually. since we got driver signature
