I can get the "new" version of mixman working pretty well with windows 7... but the DM2..nope.... the computer sees it as an unknown device in devices and printer.. says the usb driver is there... but that's it.. it doesn't work AT ALL! forget the vitual PC.. no help there either. I use the DM2 and mixman in my music tech class...well I used to anyway. This sucks. Anyone up for writing a new inf file for the thing?

we need to send more feedbacks to the mixman contact page, they already say that they will find a way to use the dm2 on modern IOS, any way, the best answer i got, is to wait...they working on it, but i gess the programing guys from mixman will make a faster solution if they realise how many people do had the dm2 waiting in a box

This is my 2nd email to them and their reply...
My email:
I tried this on windows 7 and windows 7 64 bit. i pointed to the drivers folder to see if it recognizes the driver and nothing on both systems. is there somewhere i can download the windows 7 driver or win7 64bit driver? i downloaded spin control and it didn't work at all. I'm kind of disappointed.

Nick,
If you look down the e-mail that was sent out to you and some others -- we explained that there currently are no drivers for Win7 and DM2.
That's because DM2 was last manufactured in 2005. At the time, it came in a box with a CD-Rom installation disk. Mixman does not manufacture boxed products any longer. The original drivers for the device were created by a partner company of Mattel that was the original partner on creating the physical device.
Mixman had been monitoring the feedback and requests for DM2 support with new Mixman App for Win7 (Win8 next year).
We would have to spend time and money and resources to develop new drivers. That's time and resources not being spent on iPad, Android, Mac, and other things people want as well.
We have not made a decision. We're monitoring the situation. There were over 200,000 DM2 units in the world, but we have had less 100 requests for DM2 support for new Mixman.
Interestingly - not one request for DM2 support has offered to pay for that? :-) We understand people expect things for free forever. But it does cost money to make technology.
We would like everyone with a DM2 unit to be able to continue to use and enjoy it, I'd say there is a good chance that if creating the new drivers is not too costly, that something will be done, but since we just released the new Mixman in January - we are monitoring the feedback to see what to do.
If you have not gotten the new Mixman Spin Control yet, you should take advantage of the Free promotion with Intel that lasts til March 25th. All of this information on how to get it and the link for it is in the original e-mail below. Just read through it.
If you aren't sure what is new/different in Mixman, you can go to the website and check out the How To Vids.
We appreciate your past support. We will make an announcement about DM2 in the next 2-3 months on teh website, FB page, Twitter and e-mail blasts.
Happy Mixing
-- Team Mixman

So that's it? No true possibility of a windows 7 dm2 driver? And they the email they sent you makes it seem like its just purely about the money, not the music... I'm new to dm2, and unfortunately have windows 7, thus not being able to ever try out my dm2. I don't even get to try this baby out... Ugh. Maybe if we got more people to message them? Everyone on this site?

I'm trying to get it to run on Win 7 - 64 bit Ultimate, and I've only tried installing the original CD as Windows 98/ME in properties / admin... and it didn't work for me. I haven't tried any external programs, but am hopeful someone can homebrew a patch to get it working in Win 7 64bit, or someone who knows how to do it posts here. Will keep checking back!

[snip] -- Team Mixman Perhaps you could write back and ask them how much it would cost to write Win 7 drivers for DM2. It might be worth while to do it at cost (maybe $5.00 for an estimated 10-20% of all owners). User could register and might eventually buy other Mixman products. Plenty of other gear owners have upgraded their drivers. I paid over $100 for my original DM2. Over the past several years I have been to the mixman site and saw absolutely no support. It looked like a totally dead, orphaned product. Had there been a poll asking how much people would pay for Win 7 drivers to get their DM2 working on newer PCs, I would have certainly replied. To justify not doing updated drivers because no one asked for it from a site that appeared totally dead and abandoned is organizational rhetoric. Just sayin'. Steve
