I agree with you, Steve. It's ridiculous that a perfectly good piece of hardware goes to waste for 200,000 people because they don't want to spend money on a new driver. I like your suggestion for them to have people to register for the Win7 driver and see how many are really interested and at $5 a pop, I know I'd pay that, even $10 just so I could use it again.

Another vote for "I have Windows 7 x64 and Windows XP Mode, and XP Mode crashed the Virtual Machine when installing the unsigned Driver".
I reverted back to XP 32 bit for a while but can't even play tiger woods golf 2012 on 32 bit, so i cannot stand using it.
I know djprotojeex would be pissed but i have a home studio and golf is very relaxing and helps me think of the "beauty of nature" while i am away from the real links, and helps inspire Dream Trance.
So sad the new Mixman SpinControl has no DM2 support.

I cant see the problem anymore for dual booting. I could care less what makes you happy as long as you have something that makes you happy.

This is my 2nd email to them and their reply... [snip] Reply: If you look down the e-mail that was sent out to you and some others -- we explained that there currently are no drivers for Win7 and DM2. That's because DM2 was last manufactured in 2005. At the time, it came in a box with a CD-Rom installation disk. Mixman does not manufacture boxed products any longer. The original drivers for the device were created by a partner company of Mattel that was the original partner on creating the physical device. Mixman had been monitoring the feedback and requests for DM2 support with new Mixman App for Win7 (Win8 next year). We would have to spend time and money and resources to develop new drivers. That's time and resources not being spent on iPad, Android, Mac, and other things people want as well. We have not made a decision. We're monitoring the situation. There were over 200,000 DM2 units in the world, but we have had less 100 requests for DM2 support for new Mixman. Interestingly - not one request for DM2 support has offered to pay for that? :-) We understand people expect things for free forever. But it does cost money to make technology. We would like everyone with a DM2 unit to be able to continue to use and enjoy it, I'd say there is a good chance that if creating the new drivers is not too costly, that something will be done, but since we just released the new Mixman in January - we are monitoring the feedback to see what to do. If you have not gotten the new Mixman Spin Control yet, you should take advantage of the Free promotion with Intel that lasts til March 25th. All of this information on how to get it and the link for it is in the original e-mail below. Just read through it. [snip] -- Team Mixman Perhaps you could write back and ask them how much it would cost to write Win 7 drivers for DM2. It might be worth while to do it at cost (maybe $5.00 for an estimated 10-20% of all owners). User could register and might eventually buy other Mixman products. Plenty of other gear owners have upgraded their drivers. I paid over $100 for my original DM2. Over the past several years I have been to the mixman site and saw absolutely no support. It looked like a totally dead, orphaned product. Had there been a poll asking how much people would pay for Win 7 drivers to get their DM2 working on newer PCs, I would have certainly replied. To justify not doing updated drivers because no one asked for it from a site that appeared totally dead and abandoned is organizational rhetoric. Just sayin'. Steve its a great idea.. But i can say with 100% certainty they hate us with a passion and wish wed just disappear off the face of the earth. I also dont recommend anyone else attempt to make the driver off the dm2 windows source code we released last year its the internet surely it didnt vanish...

I've Officially said Screw it with Windows 7(though it looks nice) and am getting a 64 bit version of Windows XP for Xmas...
That way i can play my high-intesity graphics games and use Mixman whenever i want. Cannot dual boot due to a drunken install of HDD's gone bad and broke both auxillary HDD SATA Cables ROFL.

hi everyone... well I just wanted to post something that came up while searching some info for a project Im doing, diggin software around, I found USBIO Demo, a program that is supposed to automate the Driver Coding procedure, I mean, as written in their website: Universal USB Development Kit for Windows 8, 7, Vista and XP... I dont know a dime about programming but I was able to change my DM2 driver state from "Unknown Device" to "Usbio Device"... and the application Demo shows a lot of config parameters wich I think can be altered somehow... After dreaming a little how to hack DM2 driver with this app, I found 2 problems... 1st: Usbio is really expensive, I mean 3K US dollars for it... possible solution, find a hacker to solve our problems, 2nd: While editing Driver values, doin it right and make it MIDI or OSC compatible, and win8 as well... ok I think this is it.... I hope somebody could check it out and let others know if its possible to hack the DM2 driver and give hope to the peoples... Bye Yall here is the website link: www.thesycon.de/eng/usbio.shtml

Hi guys - I just came across the Mixman Facebook site and they are asking a question about how many people would be interested in the DM2 driver being updated, so GO TO THEIR FACEBOOK SITE and you might want to make a whole topic or ADMIN of this send email to everyone on this forum about telling them YES we want an updated driver for the DM2. Here is their FB site, they said to like the FB site and then like the post about the DM2 so they know who is interested. www.facebook.com/MixmanOfficial

Thanks for posting the reference to Facebook. I went there and saw this from January 2012:
[/quote]Hey Mixman fans! We have been getting a lot of requests and questions about the Mixman USB Controller that we developed 10 years ago with Mattel. Many of you know it as "DM2" pronounced dee-m-squared. We have had 3 products DM2, Mixman MP3 Producer and Mixman LoopStudio that all included the USB Controller. While we do not have any current plans to manufacture more controllers at this time we are considering making an update that would allow the USB Controller to work on Win7 and with new Mixman App. This is going to be influenced a lot by how much feedback we get.[/unquote]
Have they said anything more since that came out almost a year and a half ago?
Steve

need people to help confirm or deny the fact the windows 7 virtualpc allows the dm2 to work on 32 bit systems. everyone with windows 7 check out this link www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/My developer just called me freaking out saying hes got it working. On 1 machine and is having issues on another. need to know if people can get it working and if we can start doing write ups on it. I know its not a driver but if we can get people using the dm2 while keeping there original win 7 install. Might be alot of help for some people. So everyone thats a windows 7 user and wants a driver nowis your time to help the dmtwo.tk crew. Thanks, Blueshift2 After crashing two PC's I snapped the console in half. Will not be purchasing any more dm2 hardware.

So the consensus is there is no work around right now? I took my controller out of the box for the first time since high school tonight with the thought of using it.
